Members develop close connections that will last a lifetime. Most offer an academic program designed to allow each member a chance to succeed in the classroom. The Greek system also provides opportunities to gain the leadership experience coveted by employers and grad schools. All sororities and fraternities host philanthropy events that benefit their respective charities, and the entire community gets together for special philanthropies. As a collegiate member, the fraternity/sorority experience provides opportunities to meet students from other campus chapters. Members are encouraged to participate in other campus life programs and to join other student organizations. Intramural sports and special campus events provide even more opportunities to meet students, faculty and staff from various auxiliaries and departments. The chapter also provides opportunities for members to meet siblings from chapters at other campuses, usually through a regional or national leadership conference. The fraternity and sorority experience is not limited to the college years, as it continues through adulthood.

Dues vary by organization, and are often used to cover national dues, insurance, and social dues. Other costs related to membership in Greek organizations include a one-time membership fee. Most organizations at California State University, Northridge have payment plans, as well as grade discounts to help with financial cost.

Anyone who meets the GPA requirement is eligible to join a Greek organization. 1st year students are also allowed to join.
Do Greek Organizations haze?
Hazing is not tolerated by the Independent Greek Council, our chapters, and the University. There are strict hazing-prevention policies in place and every member is required to sign a non-hazing agreement prior to beginning their new member process. There are also programs in place to give semester refreshers in regards to the No Hazing Policy.
